Deanna Schrell was raised
in the hot desert of Arizona and on the sandy beaches of
California, before moving to the snowy mountains of Ketchum
Idaho in 1974. This background, along with her love for the
outdoors is evidenced in her colorful paintings.
Art has been her passion since childhood. She has studied
art at Boise State University and has taken numerous
workshops, most extensively with Ovanes Berberian and Robert
Moore. Her strongest influences are Sergei Bongart, the
Russian Impressionists, and the early California plein-air
painters.
Deanna paints mostly en plein-air. She uses color harmony,
light and shadow, texture and exiting brushwork to capture
the essence of her subject matter, be it landscapes or
still-lifes. Oils are her medium and on any given day, you
may find her painting in the fresh air, under an open sky
bringing her canvases to life. |
